Dr. Kim is a certified surgeon by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializing in retinal disease and surgery. 
Dr. Kim graduated from UC  Berkeley  with a Bachelors in Economics with  Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation, he proceeded to teach at an inner-city school in downtown San  Francisco  where he gained  praise  for teaching excellence. During his first year in teaching, he was recognized by the principal for his outstanding service and writing innovative curriculum and was featured in the San Francisco Chronicle. After his work with UCSF medical students and HIV project, medicine piqued his interest and decided to return to school to become a physician.

He went on to attend one of the nation's  leading  medical   schools, 
Northwestern  University , Feinberg  School  of  Medicine, where he 
was  chosen  as  the  class  representative   of  curriculum  committee. 
He  completed  his  internship  at  the  University  of  Chicago/Weiss
Memorial  Hospital.   Dr. Kim  conducted  his  residency  at  the 
world renowned Cullen  Eye  Institute, Baylor  College  of 
Medicine  and  at a prestigious  2 year  vitreo-retinal disease and 
surgery   fellowship  at  Georgetown   University/Washington
Hospital  Center/Retina   Group   of   Washington.  
 
A  published  author  on  retinal  disease, Dr. Kim  has  presented 
lectures  at  national  and  international  meetings, and  has  strong 
interest  in  macular  holes, macular  puckers, retinal  detachments, 
complex  diabetic  retinopathy, and uveitis.  He  is  a  member  of 
American  Academy  of  Ophthalmology, American  Society  of 
Retina  Specialists,  and  American  Medical  Association.
